LDD20 now online

The first tranche of papers in Volume 20 of Language Documentation and Description is now online with 7 papers available for free download. The papers cover languages from Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America, and include four Language Snapshots, two Language Contexts, and one general paper on morphosyntactic analysis. The papers include abstracts in English, as well as Nepali, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, and Kala Kawaw Ya. Alistair Harvey’s paper is also the first to have a section in an Indigenous language, and only the second linguistic paper published in an Australian Indigenous language, as I noted in this blog post.

As previously, we are delighted that a number of the papers are by early career researchers and discuss poorly-known languages from around the world. As usual, all papers were subject to rigorous double-blind peer review.

We are currently working on the next batch of papers to be uploaded to LDD20. These include:

  • “Fa d’Ambô (Equatorial Guinea) – Language Snapshot” by Ana Lívia Agostinho
  • “Akuzipik/Yupik (St. Lawrence Island, Alaska, USA; Chukotka, Russia) – Language Snapshot” by Christopher Petuwaq Koonooka, Sylvia L.R. Schreiner, Giulia Masella Soldati, Lane Schwartz, Benjamin Hunt, Preston Haas, Emily Chen & Hyunji Hayley Park
  • “Memories of mother’s words: Guató lexicon retained by two non-native elderly speakers” by Kristina Balykova
